PDA

November can be a stressful time for Wrimos. As though writing 1,667 words each and every day wasn’t bad enough, we’ve also got plots, sub-plots, characters and scenes to keep track of up to the wazoo. To that end, your MLs have… shall we say, borrowed and idea from farther afield and created the first ever VancoWrimo PDA! These wonderful devices are small enough to fit into your pocket, bursting full of places to jot down your novel’s information, high-tech enough to be completely customizable to your exact needs as they change through Novmeber but still backwards compatible with the graphite pencil and ballpoint pens.

Included in the wonderful PDAs are:

  • Story Writing Thoughts: To help you have a successful and fun November. Includes tips on starting, characters, dialogue and more.
  • Surviving NaNoWriMo: Tips from the experts. How to start, how to kill unproductivity, the sticky subject of homework, chores and other non-Nano ‘must-do’s in November and more.
  • Word Count Calendar: So you can tell exactly how much more you need to write to catch up today. Or how far you are ahead, if you’re a lucky one.
  • Word Count Jetpack: Getting ahead in a hurry if you’ve fallen behind a bit.
  • The Big Idea: Your Nano in a nutshell.
  • Setting & Background: Putting your world in perspective.
  • Plot Microcosm: So you know where you’re coming from, what you’ve got to do and where you’re going to.
  • Plot Point Checklist: The scenes you’ve got to cross on your way to 50,000 words.
  • Scene Outline: You can plot even while on transit.
  • Character Outline: Keep those guys in order. Never mistake Bob for Fred ever again!
  • Plot Bunny Daycare Centre: A free, humane habitat for all your plot bunnies you’ll find on your journey to The End. Store them safely here until December 1st.
  • Plot Device Generator: Get un-stuck in a hurry with these tips. Or read them and never get stuck on account of what you’ll have to write yourself out of.

The PDA file itself is available from the site here: VancoWrimo PDA 2009 If you weren’t at the kickoff, you can download the PDF, load your printer up with 3×5 inch index cards and print them off. If you are in need of extra pages, say, the Scene Outline or the Character Outlines, feel free to download and print off some extras.
